Conventions with OFR
This page will highlight the neophyte experiences of me, Larry, at my first big time gaming convention, the 2011 Penny Arcade Expo East in Boston, MA. Join the entire Open Forum Radio crew as we show you interviews, swag pictures, hilarious video and picture moments from the once-considered once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The picture above looks past a parking lot and into the Bay. It’s a grand site and could only be seen from our hotel the Doubletree Hotel Boston Bayside. Our hotel was right next to the Bayside Expo Center and a local Tram station. Good times people.
After leaving the hotel that night, we went to catch up with Bob (Full_Tilt101), Jeffrey (jmcwild), JD (JDisthewp) and Chris. We listened to hilarious karaoke and had some drinks.
The next morning started early. An early shuttle (8:00 A.M.) meant we had to get up early. But once you entered PAXEAST, it was on like hot butter on popcorn.
I then commence to play games and meet media industry icons. There are too many pictures to show here but here was my first demo and contact as a media member, Shane Bettenhausen, Director of New Business at Ignition Entertainment and his game El Shaddai (see the Inside Track for more information).

Nice job Blue. Being in Boston at Pax East this year with you and VladzHammer and all the other Community guys and girls we were with was a joy like no other joy I’ve ever had. I look to make this a yearly event with my lovely wife Browneyes.
Meeting you for the 1st time after talking to you every week for well over a year was also a joy and I believe it solidified our freindship and move it up to a different level.
You worked your tail off for our website and for our community and I’m sure everyone appreciates everything you did. I seen you hustling everyday so I can attest, you were the Hardest working man at Pax East 2011.
Thanks Vic. I appreciate that. I put in work but I felt like I missed so much. I’ll step my game up next year. Can’t wait to kick it with you and the Mrs. again. Let’s get it!
