PC gaming still not hassle free

Today it took me 8.5 hours to download the beta of Funcom’s The Secret World.  As the beta downloaded,  I filled my day with movies, games, and father/son time.  After enduring such a long download time, I encounter an error launching the beta.  It appears my Nvidia driver requires an update I had no idea about.  Apparently, I must have the Nvidia driver app on PC look for beta drivers as well (I didn’t know that was a thing).

None the less, I’ve spent the greater part of my day waiting.  This is why PC gaming still is not as hassle free as some would like.  A DL demo on XBL would be 1/10 the size of this download and would require no extra downloads.  What do you think, is PC gaming still too hassle-ridden to be adopted as a mainstream gaming console?  Let me know.
